BMI - A Tool To Help Determine What Your Weight Should Be

Weighing yourself is only half of what you need to know when trying to determine what your weight should be. BMI or body mass index is what is most commonly used to determine what your weight should be. The 2 key factors needed when determining your BMI is your weight and your height.
To figure out your BMI, take your weight and multiply it by 703. Take that number and divide it by your height converted to inches. Divide that number again by your height in inches. That final number is your BMI.
Once you know your final BMI number, you can take that to a BMI chart and determine where you are. You are shooting for the healthy range. A healthy BMI range is somewhere between 18. 5 and 24. 9. The overweight range is a BMI between 25 and 29. 9. The obese range is anything 30 and above. On the other end, a BMI under 18. 5 is considered to be underweight.
Knowing where you are on the BMI scale will let you know how at risk for health problems you are. Excess weight ups the chances for health problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart attacks or even early death.
The BMI scale is not always a 100% accurate account of exactly where your weight needs to be. The frame of your body needs to be taken into account somewhat. If you have a larger frame, your body is able to handle a little extra weight and still be healthy. Oppositely, if you have a smaller frame, you can do without some weight and still be healthy.
Knowing your BMI will be a big help to determine what your weight should be. Factor in your body frame a bit and know your number can be up or down just a bit. Now that you are aware of what your weight should be, all you need now is to get there.
